In this pattern the elephant is holding a pole with his nose. The elephant is sitting down. His head is tilted back, so the pole is at the top of the pattern. The skin of the elephant is interesting for scroll sawing, because of the folds and wrinkles in the skin.
There are 3 species of elephant: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. The Asian elephant works with people more, so this may be an Asian elephant.
