Trivets are used to protect your table from the hot dishes you put on top of them. Teapots are hot and the oval shape of this trivet works well with a teapot. You could however put anything that fits on it. If, you have a drill and a large enough drill bit I recommend using it for making the pupils of the eyes and the hole in the forehead. I recommend doing so because circles that aren’t perfectly round tends to draw the eye.
